Natural light is always the best source to light your subject outside on a cloudy day or if inside have your pet facing the window.  Where possible I work from good quality digital head and neck photos in focus preferably taken at the pet’s eye level with the eyes and nose being clearly seen but not cropped too closely. A good idea is to hold your pet’s favourite toy or treat behind the camera so they focus on that and take a variety of different angles, a ‘three quarters’ view is quite often a good pose. Extra photos referencing eye detail and coat colour can be very helpful. If your pet has sadly passed away, you may not have any good quality photos but if you send me what you have, I will confirm if a portrait is possible.
